Target Audience
The conference is intended for all physicians,
nurses, mental health and public health professionals, managers, researchers,
policy makers, social workers, students, community advocates and representatives.
Arab
American Health Needs
Just as in the case of other ethnic immigrant
groups, Arab Americans face numerous cultural, social, and educational
challenges in the process of adapting to American culture. Lack of
resources and cultural barriers limit the ability of individuals,
families, and communities to access health information and to adopt
healthy behaviors. In turn, inherent limitations existing within the
large healthcare systems further impede the delivery of adequate healthcare
to this population.
The information shared at this conference may be of interest to other
immigrants and ethnic groups as they can be put to practice to help
solve similar challenges faced by these groups in their efforts towards
health promotion and disease prevention.
Conference Purpose
This landmark conference
will serve to reaffirm our strong commitment to prevent disease, reduce
health disparities, and promote wellness in the Arab American community.
The conference will provide scientific information about the prevalence
of disease risk factors and lifestyle behaviors in the Arab American

influencing the practice of healthy lifestyle behaviors in the Arab
