Selection Process
• Review Process:
All submitted abstracts undergo an anonmyous peer-review process by members of
the Abstract Subcommittee and other experts in the respective fields.
• Selection Criteria: Abstracts will be evaluated for originality,
scientific merit, adequacy of data, relevance to the field, and the
general interest.
• Selection Decision: The final decision will be made by the
Abstract Subcommittee.
Abstract will either be:
1) selected for oral presentation,2) poster presentation, or 3) not
selected.
• Abstracts accepted for oral or poster presentation may be
published in the journal Ethnicity & Disease contingent upon timely
submission of well-written publication that follows the Journal standard
format.
• Notification: Presenting authors will receive an e-mail notification
of the selection decision by August 1st 2008.
Oral
Presentation
Oral presentations will be limited to a 10-minute presentation followed
by a 5-minute informal question-and-answer session moderated by an
expert in the field. The presenting author will be notified of the
date and the time of the presentation and will be required to submit
the presentation electronically. If the presenting author is unable
to attend, he/she will be responsible to assign a co-author to present
the abstract and to notify ACCESS of this change.
Poster Presentation
Abstract posters will be displayed during the meeting. The presenting
author must be available for one hour to answer questions and to discuss
the work during the poster session. If the presenting author is unable
to attend, he/she will be responsible to assign a co-author to present
the abstract and to notify ACCESS of this change.
