Domestic Violence: Perspective and Global Review

Domestic violence among immigrant communities and minority groups presents a serious public health problem.
Domestic violence in the Arab American community presents a special case with a unique set of barriers that must
be addressed when offering prevention and intervention services. This workshop will deliver the following:

 

Objectives:

    • To compare domestic violence prevalence in the Arab American community with that of Michigan
      and the United States as a whole
    • To raise awareness about the understanding of religious and cultural factors that influence domestic
      violence prevention and intervention
    • To develop concrete action plans to reduce the burden of domestic violence and promote healthy
      living in our community
